About Imei
I love working with people. No matter how complex your situation is, no matter how
messy, it is an honor to come alongside an individual, couple, family, or group and offer
myself as a healer, a compassionate ear, and one who is willing to dive into the most
heartbreaking worlds in order to help you move into your most satisfying life.
My counseling practice includes working with eating disorders, mood disorders,
relationship issues, couples counseling, transitions, and brief career counseling. But beyond
looking at the specific problems, I help people listen to their deep needs and desires without
editing. By doing so, I help you identify the path you need to walk and how to find the
courage to walk it. The pace is up to you.
My coaching practice includes business people, homemakers, track switchers (career
changes), and people entering major transitions in parenting, blended families, and lifestyle
changes. It is based on my work in counseling and CEU work (continuing education units)
accumulated on the subject of coaching.
I believe that it is the relationship that heals. Entering into a therapeutic relationship
gives you opportunity to be seen, to try new things, to explore and change, while doing so
in a safe and supportive environment. I love the fact that in therapy there are "do-overs".
I graduated with my nursing degree from the University of Washington (BSN 1990), obtained
my Registered Nurse license, graduated with a Master of Counseling degree in 2000, and
obtained a license as a mental health counselor in 2004. I also earned a 200 -hour Yoga
Teacher certification to better understand the connection between mind and body, and I am
skilled at using Mindfulness Meditation and body movement to help clients with mood
disorders, eating disorders, and stress reduction. My office is LBGT and Poly friendly, and
many of my clients over the years have come from African American, Hispanic, Asian,
Middle East, and European cultures.
If you have never tried counseling before, it can be a daunting task to find a counselor that
"fits". Your first 30 minutes are FREE with no obligation to continue the first session, and this
can be done in person or over the phone. Your first 15 minutes are FREE if you want to try
a motivational coaching session on a single identifiable goal.
