Divorce Sucks is a Facebook page for savvy people who are contemplating or going through the trauma and ensuing carnage of divorce. The page is quietly moderated by its founders to help people overcome the stigma of divorce, and to help them thoughtfully navigate the issues related to divorce.
While the title, “Divorce Sucks”, might sound like we’re against divorce, the reality for many is that not all marriages were meant to last. The title reinforces feelings of its founders to help create an environment of support and camaraderie for divorced people.
With 60% of marriages ending in divorce, and an even higher percentage (close to 70%) of second marriages ending in divorce, this is a hot topic that we think deserves something better than under-attended recovery groups relegated to church basements and self-help books aimed only towards females. We want to give you the skinny on divorce from many angles so you can make the best decisions for yourself and your family. Hopefully, by getting together on occasion, divorce won’t suck so badly. We also hope that those who have walked through their own divorces will be kind enough to help those who are struggling.
Seattle chapter only: meetings have been cancelled until further notice. If you would like to be a meetup organizer, please contact me via the contact page and submit a request.
Live outside the Seattle area and want a Divorce Sucks group for your city? Contact me about setting up a chapter in your town. All I ask is that you please network through my website. We are creating a template for you to model your chapter, and I would love to help coordinate a nation-wide effort to provide quality presentations that help as many people as possible. Please use my contact page to request information on how to start a DS chapter.
